Birth Thought To Be Second Largest This Century
Winston-Salem, NC-The mother of a set of titanic sized twins born in North Carolina reports that she feels a “bit tired but hanging in there,” as she recovers from what is believed to be the second largest set of twins born this century.
Erin Maynard is 36 years old, and a tall lady at 5 foot 10 inches in height, but even her tall frame was taxed to the maximum by the 23 pounds, 1 ounces that her twin babies, one girl and one boy, put on her body.
Sean Williams Maynard was the first born at 10 pounds 14 ounces, followed closely two minutes later by his slightly younger sister Abigail Rose Maynard, who was even larger at 12 pounds, 3 ounces.
This was a surprise for the hospital, and for the twin’s parents.
Only two weeks ago there was a routine ultrasound that revealed each of the babies at 9 pounds apiece, so the large birth was not only a record of sorts but also a total surprise.
“It just sort of boggles the mind,” said Joey Maynard, 40 years of age.
Joey is the proud father of the two twins, and just very glad and excited that both babies and his wife emerged healthy after the 9-month pregnancy.
