Race For The Cure Seattle Event Deemed Successful By Organizers.Seattle, WA-The annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event held in Seattle drew over 14,500 people and was deemed a success by the event organizers.

Many people have been helped in the past by the Susan G. Komen cancer foundation; it provides support, information and encouragement for young women who fall ill from breast cancer, often without any health insurance or other means of health support.

Each year the event raises awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer, and the effort to find a cure for the deadly illness that kills thousands of young women each year around the world.

Organizers believe that they raised more than 1.65 million dollars with this event on Sunday, and they said that the cost of putting on the event has remained stable in recent years at around 14 to 18 percent.

Over three quarters of the money raised by the Puget Sound event stays right in the Seattle Tacoma region, to fund breast cancer research and to aid in other programs.

The Susan G. Komen Foundation provides support for education, early detection and screening and for treatment programs.
