Madrid, Spain- In a new study of the effects of coffee drinking it appears that those women that drink coffee are in some cases less likely to perish from heart disease.
In a study done by Autonoma University of Madrid, Spain over the last 25 years, nearly 85 thousand women were examined.
The amount of coffee consumed was assessed in 1980 and then followed up for the next 24 years, every 2 to 4 years.
The participants in the study completed questionnaires that talked about how much coffee they drank, how often they drank coffee and other dietary and health habits they engaged in.
The researchers took the information and complied it, and compared the frequency of death from any cause, and the incidence of death due to heart disease and from cancer.
The people who drank more coffee were less likely to die from heart related issues than those that did not drink any coffee or who drank less coffee.
Women who drank 2 to 3 cups of coffee a day had a overall 25 percent less chance of dying from heart related issues and heart disease than women who do not drink coffee at all.
