California Halts Internet DNA Testing Cease And Desist Letters Issued To More Than A Dozen Companies.Mountain View, California- There are more than a dozen different companies that market Internet DNA testing directly to consumers that have been served with Cease and Desist letters by the California Department of Public Health.

The letters come as a result of a series of investigations as to whether these companies follow and adhere to Federal and California State laws.

Under California state law, a California resident must have an order signed by a doctor to have a genetic test run.

The labs that perform these Internet DNA tests are supposed to have both Federal and State certifications in order to conform to the law.

Most of the companies that engage in these testing do not have any official state or federal certification, and they are also in violation of different federal and state laws and regulations.

This is why the California Department of Public Health issued the Cease and Desist Letters.

Of the 13 different companies that received the letters, one of the companies is 23andMe.

23andMe is a company co-founded by Anne Wojcicki, who is married to Google Co-Founder Sergey Brin.

The companies that were served with the letters to stop testing on the Internet have 14 days to show compliance to the federal and state laws that they are accused of being in violation of.
