Washington, D.C.- The passing of the popular and well loved “Meet the Press,” moderator from a sudden heart attack has raised the visibility of heart and cardiovascular issues in America.
Many people are examining their own health, and looking to see if they are at risk of a sudden heart attack or other health issues.
Tim Russert was 58 years of age when he collapsed at his work at NBC while working on his Sunday news program.
Rescue efforts to revive Mr. Russert at the scene failed, and he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital by ambulance.
Mr. Russert had been previously diagnosed with coronary artery disease and was taking medication for the condition but his condition was believed under control and not a big risk at the time of his death.
It makes many people take stock of their condition and to wonder about their own mortality.
There is little that a person can do to predict a sudden cardiac event, but there are a lot of things that a person can do to lessen the risks.
Nearly 310,000 Americans die of sudden cardiac arrest every year, this is more than the deaths from strokes, AIDS and several types of Cancers combined.
