According to reports, tomatoes grown in the state of Florida are apparently safe to consume and free from salmonella.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has confirmed that the tomatoes grown in Florida are safe.
The FDA added Florida to the safe to eat list after they reviewed the safety initiative in Florida, as well as the timing of the illness outbreak and when the tomatoes were harvested.
Many grocery stores and restaurants pulled the uncooked red plum, red Roma, and red round tomatoes from the shelves following the fact that 17 states have had tomatoes which caused salmonella contaminations.
There have been around 167 cases confirmed thus far.
Florida will be added to the safe list this evening on the FDA Web site.
