Hong Kong is under a bird flu scare yet again as the H5N1 bird flu virus was detected in chickens on Saturday in one of the city’s poultry markets.
Authorities have stated that they have slaughtered 2,700 birds, and also banned all live poultry imports from the mainland China for around 3 weeks.
This came after the inspection which revealed the bird flu contamination on Saturday.
There is little threat to humans at this point but the concern persists that there may be a problem with poultry stocks in southern China.
Hong Kong has stated they will step up security in a major way.
