A mother and her daughter are trying to push a universal allergy policy to be followed across all schools in the U.S.
Jennifer Davis and her daughter Danielle are from Charleston and they have been pushing for a federal law to create uniform guidelines for schools to protect children from food allergies.
The new rules would allow parents to feel safer sending their kids to schools as each and every school would be following the same exact guidelines.
They are supported by the Food Allergies * Anaphylaxis Network, a nonprofit organization who also wants the federal law.
The Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Management Act was passed by the House in April and is now in the Senate, and is gaining more and more momentum.
According to the FDA, food allergies cuase 150 deaths, 30,000 emergency room visits, and 2,000 hospitalizations each year.
