The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has come out once again and stated that the use of bisphenol A (BPA) in plastic baby bottles and other plastic containers is perfectly safe. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has come out once again and stated that the use of bisphenol A (BPA) in plastic baby bottles and other plastic containers is perfectly safe.

A study was released not too long ago which stated that exposure to BPA in plastic bottles and food containers could cause developmental problems in children.

The FDA does not see it this way though, as Norris Alderson, testified this week in front of Congress, stating that all studies the FDA has show the chemical is safe.

He stated that “food contact materials containing BPA currently on the market are safe, and that exposure levels to BPA from these materials, including exposure to infants and children, are below those that may cause health effects.”

Many retailers have not listened to the FDA, pulling products which contain BPA from their shelves.
