In total, around 15,000 poultry were killed in total. Officials stated that it was an absolutely necessary event in order to control and stop the spread of the H5N1 bird flu virus.

South Korean officials have also stated that all live poultry will be banned from entering Seoul so that they can keep it free from all new outbreaks.

In the last week alone, there have been two new outbreaks in the capital.

In total, the number of outbreaks to hit South Korea stands at 31.
