The home was occupied by Roger Von Bergendorff for over a year before he moved to Las Vegas a year ago.

Authorities believed they had recovered all of the ricin in several vials found last week from the Las Vegas Strip motel where Roger Von Bergendorff had stayed, but they wanted to also check the home in Riverton, where Bergendorff had lived.

Because agents searched under sealed warrants, FBI officials were tight-lipped about materials recovered from Tholen’s home and about what led investigators to search the storage units rented to Von Bergendorff.

He was also placed in the hospital a few weeks ago. It is believed by investigators that he may have gotten sick from being exposed to the deadly toxin.

Neighbors in Utah described Mr. Von Bergendorff as a peculiar loner commonly seen in brown slacks and a brown shirt. Pauline and Grant Dansie, who live three doors down from Mr. Tholen, said Mr. Von Bergendorff spent six weeks last summer searching their backyard daily for a missing cat that he eventually said he found.

The FBI still states that this does not appear to be a “terrorist act.”
