The new case of mad cow has been confirmed as of late Tuesday.

This is the second case of mad cow disease in the last two months in Canada.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency stated that there is no fear of it spreading from this cow as it was not consumed by any other human or animal, keeping it out of the food chain.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Deputy Secretary Chuck Conner stated that this will have no impact on beef trade with the U.S.

This goes against what happened in 2003 when the U.S. blocked all beef imports from Canada following an outbreak of mad cow disease.

Canada continues to fight the disease as it is expected to take at least another 10 years before they are able to fully eliminate the disease.
