The dairy farm in Massachusetts, called Whittier Farms, has been closed permanently following a listeria outbreak.
The dairy was found to have developed listeria tainted milk. Whittier Farms is selling milk in its store on Douglas Road, but that milk does not come from their farm.
One of the farm’s owners, Wayne Whittier, stated that the family made a tough decision to close the plant and store permanently.
He stated “The milk production and bottling plant, it won’t be a place where Whittier Farms will operate again.”
They stated they will resume operation elsewhere.
Four people became ill from teh disease, two of them, men in their 70s, both have died.
