This seems to be the recent path Tom Cruise’s career has been on, but it appears he has another flop on his hands. 20th Century Fox’s “Knight and Day” is doing badly at the box office and has received terrible reviews from the critics.
The movie has been out in full release for 2 weeks now and has earned $44 million at the box office. The movie had a production cost of over $117 million and a marketing budget of millions more, so this release will be deemed a failure.
Fans say the movie is confusing and hard to ollow, critics say Cruise’s performance is below average. All this talk shifts the focus to Paramont where they are trying to decide whether to green-light the next Mission Impossible movie, starring of course, Tom Cruise. Those in the industry are questioning wheter Cruise has what it takes at this point to be an action star.
Cruise is worried that he is losing his place in Hollywood. He has been one of the most bankable stars for years, but seeing that he is now 48, the tide may be turning. All this, coupled with his public eccentricities including the Oprah couch jumping episode had really hurt his career.
