Farrah Fawcett has accepted Ryan O’Neal’s marriage proposal, but it may be too little, too late. The one-time “Charlie’s Angels” star, and former iconic symbol, is reportedly in an LA hospital, fighting for her life.
Since 2006, the 62-year-old actress has staged a very public battle with anal cancer. She received traditional cancer treatments in America and experimental cancer treatments in Germany. But it was all for naught. Despite going into remission for a short time, the cancer came back and spread to her liver. In May, “Farrah’s Story,” a video diary of her struggle with cancer, aired to near record ratings for NBC.
Earlier this week, she was admitted to the hospital, and unnamed sources report that she has begun receiving visitors who have come to say their final goodbyes to her. It has also been reported that a priest had arrived to give the star her last rites.
Last Friday, longtime love, Ryan O’Neal, announced that Fawcett had finally accepted his marriage proposal.
O’Neal and Fawcett met in the early 1980s and, except for a brief split, have been together ever since. O’Neal has been by her side every step of the way in her fight with cancer.
In last week’s interview with Barbara Walters, on “20/20,” he sad that he and Farrah would definitely get married, as soon as she was able to wed. Sadly, it does not look like that day will ever come.
