As CEO, Ted Rogers blazed new trails with his tireless efforts to create wireless and data communications, a national based network, the largest cable television broadcasting, high-speed internet access as well as magazines, televised shopping networks, trade publications and sports entertainment.
In His Father’s image:
Edward Rogers, Sr. , a visionary, in 1925, invented the alternating current radio tube and had long-range perceptions of radio as an entertainment form that would be broadcast into homes everywhere. Though he died at the age of 39 and most of his business interests were sold, his son was determined to follow in the path of his father.
Founding of Rogers Communications, Inc.:
As the founder of Rogers Communications, he is elevated to the rank of Canada’s chief media mogul. His legacy in the field of communications began in 1961 when he helped launch CFTO-TV. He became a young pioneer in FM radio which eventually led him to the field of cable television in the 1960’s. By 1979, through a reverse-takeover and strong business acumen, he acquired large segments of Canadian Cable Systems Ltd. which launched a lifetime of success in media and communications.
