Toronto (OTL) - Beverly Hills Chihuahua showed it has quite a bit of bark, jumping to the top of the box office.
The film, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, comes from Disney, and managed to gross $29 million in its opening weekend.
The other big opening was for Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist, which took in $12 million in its debut.
Other big new releases did not do as well as An American Carol, Blindness, and Flash of Genius all did very poorly.
The box office was up 37% compared to this same weekend one year ago, showing that the box office remains strong.
Eagle Eye starring Shia LaBeouf did well in second, taking in $17.7 million.
Others which did well included Nights in Rodanthe with $7.3 million, and Appalossa at $5 million.
