Can The Dark Knight beat Titanic for the biggest box-office movie of all time, worldwide?Toronto - Batman The Dark Knight has won the first of many honors. It is officially the biggest opening movie ever to hit the box-office.

Fans have been waiting since the ending credits of Batman Begins for a sequel.

The Dark Knight has had a tremendous amount of hype building up to the weekend. However, ask any one who has seen it and they all say the same thing. It lives up to the hype!

The Dark Knight managed to crush the record books by taking in an amazing $155.3 million.

The record was previously held by, Spider-Man 3, which took in $151.1 million just last year.

This puts The Dark Knight in a category of its own. The other big summer hits Iron Man and Indiana Jones have been doing relatively well, but will not come close to the projected worldwide earning of The Dark Knight.

With the success of the opening weekend, one question remains. Can The Dark Knight beat Titanic for the biggest box-office movie of all time, worldwide?

In 1997 Titanic took in, worldwide, $1,835,300,000.

No other film came close, as Mamma Mia! took in $27.6 million in second.  Hancock, which is still pulling in good numbers, was in third with $14 million.
