Eddie Murphy has announced that he is set to star in Beverly Hills Cop 4.
The actor will reprise his role as detective Axel Foley.
Brett Ratner will direct the big Beverly Hills Cop comeback.
Paramount Pictures has given the green light for the fourth installment in the franchise. Ratner is best known for his most recent works such as Rush Hour.
The film is expected to begin filming next year for a summer 2010 release.
The original 1984 film had two sequels, the last opened in 1994.
