Thing just keep going from bad to worse for Disney over the past while. Hot on the heels of the recent Miley Cyrus Vanity Fair scandal, comes news of racy Disney billboards in Beijing.
The ads shows girls that looks about to be 12 to 15 years old in skimpy underwear playing with Disney characters such as Winnie The Pooh. While not explicitly sexual, the ad on busy Xinjiekou Nandajie Avenue sends a negative message to little girls.
According to TMZ, all the female models are over the age of 18.
“It has caught us totally by surprise,” Gary Foster, a spokesman for Disney’s consumer-products division claims. “We have literally hundreds of licensees making our products. They are supposed to submit any kind of imagery to us before it is used, but it’s hard to enforce that sometimes.”
Meanwhile, Disney has decided to let Cyrus, 15, back out in public following the Vanity Fair scandal last week.
Overt the weekend, Cyrus performed at the Disney Channel Games concert which will air in July.
