An eigth-grader has been charged with trying to poison a classmate with a crumbled up peanut butter cookie during school. The classmate was allergic to peanuts.
The allergic classmate was also an eigth-grader and did not eat the cookies, avoiding a potentially fatal reaction.
The incident took place last Thursday at the Morton Middle School. Students were eating lunch when one student, the eighth-grade girl, placed crumbles cookies in the lunchbox of the classmate.
The student was well-known for the peanut allergy.
There was no history of problems between the two students that is known.
The student will face charges in the juvenile criminal justice system.
