Woody Allen has filed a lawsuit against American Apparel Inc.
The lawsuit states that the U.S. clothing company used Woody Allen’s image without his consent. His image was used on billboards as well as on the internet without his permission in any way, shape, or form.
The billboard ads were placed in New York and California, and had Woody Allend ressed as a rabbi.
Allen states that he was never contacted by the company and was also never paid for the use of his image in the advertising.
The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan and states “Allen does not engage in the commercial endorsement of products or services in the United States.”
He is seeking in excess of $10 million in damages.
