WBBM-Channel 2 news anchor in Chicago, Randy Salerno died in a snowmobile crash on Thursday in Wisconsin.
The Chicago Sun-Times made the report which also stated that his friend, Scott. D. Hirschey, has been accused of killing the news anchor due to alcohol use while driving the snowmobile.
45-year-old Salerno had his suddent death on Thursday when Hirschey was driving the snowmobile along with him. Salerno was the passenger when the snowmobile lost control and crashed into many trees.
The sheriff’s department stated that “Alcohol and speed are believed to be a factor in the crash. Hirschey was charged with operating a snowmobile while intoxicated and homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.”
Salerno’s wife Irene has come out and stated “I’m sure Scott would change places with Randy in a second if he could.”
He is survived by his wife and three children aged 7, 9, and 13.
