A nationwide salmonella outbreak which caused over 100 people to become ill has been linked to pet turtles.
Federal health officials have come out and stated that the 100 people who got sick from the salmonella outbreak came from 33 states. Most of them have been children thus far.
No one has died from the latest outbreak which began back in August. Most common symptoms include bloody diarrhea, fever, vomiting, and cramping.
Dr. Jonathan Fielding, the public health director of Los Angeles County, stated to not buy a pet turle. Hs stated that those who own a pet turtle should wash their hands a lot.
This has been the largest outbreak of its kind in the U.S.
