The spoof film Meet the Spartans barely beat out Sylvester Stallone and Rambo in the box office over the weekend.
The 20th Century Fox film, which was a spoof on the epic film 300 from one year ago, managed to beat out Rambo as it took in $18.7 million in its opening weekend. The Lionsgate release, Rambo, took in $18.2 million coming in second.
It was an extremely close race for the top spot, but many analysts now believe that Meet the Spartans was greatly underestimated.
Spartans was popular among teenagers and young adults, which made up 75% of its audience. It was rated PG-13 compared to the R-rated action-packed Rambo.
Rambo had a great opening though as the fourth installment of the Stallone fanchise performed quite well and should continue to perform quite well.
27 Dresses was in 3rd at $13.6 million, Cloverfield in 4th at $12.7 million, and rounding out the top five was Untraceable at $11.2.
