The nominees for the Academy Awards are set to be announced on Tuesday and as of right now it appears that the Oscars are going to take place as planned despite the ongoing writers strike.
The writers strike has already sent the Golden Globe Awards as well as the People’s Choice Awards right down the gutter, and with the Oscars coming up many thought that it would be the case again, but do not think so quickly.
Producers are very hopeful that the talks with the writers would resume with studios to the point where the Oscars can go on as planned.
The producer of the award telecast, Gilbert Cates, stated that he is very hopeful that on February 24th, the Kodak Theater in Hollywood will host the Oscars once again, and it will be televised on ABC as planned.
The Writers Guild of America continues to threaten to boycott the event.
Cates stated “There are enough clips in 80 years of Oscar history to make up a very entertaining show. We’d have a lot of people on stage. I just hoep that the actors are there. I pray that the actors are there. I’m planning that the actors are there.”
It is looking like the Oscars will go on, with or without actors in attendance.
