The league representing theater owners and producers was meeting with union representatives of the stagehands.

The two sides adjourned early Monday morning but were expected to meet again on Monday evening to go through the night once again.

Bruce Cohen, one spokesman for the union stated “We are closer than we were twelve hours ago but not close enough to have a deal.”

The strike has been going on for 16 days now leaving 26 theaters in the dark, causing the entertainment industry on Broadway to lose millions.

Yesterday was the first time the two sides met and had formal negotiations since November 18th when the last talks broke down.

The strike costs the city $2 million a day. Last year Broadway took in $42 million on grosses over Thanksgiving week and the week before, but not this year.
