This is one of the biggest Thanksgiving weekend openings of all time. Amy Adams stars as an animated princess who is brought to a live-action Manhattan.
Producer Barry Josephson stated that after going to see it in four theaters, “Everybody understood the concept of a fairy tale with animated characters coming to life, but what caught people off guard was how funnit it is.”
Coming in second was the family comedy This Christmas from Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems taking in $27 million.
The top film from last weekend, Beowulf, took the third spot. The box office revenue rose by 2% from the Thanksgiving weekend in 2006
This is nothing new for Disney who has been on an absolute roll lately with other big film opening such as The Game Plan as of late.
