Country music legend Porter Wagoner passed away at the age of 80-years-old as she died on Sunday. Country music legend Porter Wagoner passed away at the age of 80-years-old as she died on Sunday.

Porter Wagoner had three No. 1 hits throughout the career with “A Satisfied Mind,” “Misery Loves Company,” in 1955, and “Please Don’t Stop Loving Me” in 1974 in a duet with Dolly Parton.

Wagoner had 81 songs on the charts among his run which went for decades. He is one of the most prominent music figures in the history of country music. He was a main figure on television as well as on the radio’s Grand Ole Opry.

He had a syndicated TV show which ran from 1960 to 1979. Here Wagoner had a stage with a stand-up microphone for guests to tell jokes and sing songs and such.

He was born August 12, 1927 in West Plains, Mo. He grew up in a farming family which had a rough going through the Depression.

He won three Country Music Association awards, all for duets he did with Parton. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2002.

He was also known for hie rhinestone suits. He stated once, “I get more compliments on my outfit than any other entertainer, except for Liberace.”
