Legendary film director George Lucas has begun working on a live-action TV show based on the Star Wars universe in what will end up being a spin-off from the actual Star Wars movies.
Lucas stated that the project is not going to include any big names from the movies. This means that you will not be seeing any Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Han Solo, etc. in the Star Wars TV show.
Instead what you will be seeing is a lot fo Star Wars action set up with new characters. He stated “The Skywalkers aren’t in it, and it’s about minor character. It has nothing to do with Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader or any of those people. It’s completely different. But it’s a good idea, and it’s going to be a lot of fun to do.”
Producer Rick McCallum has began to interview writers for the live action series.
Lucas is having trouble though selling TV networks on the idea. He stated “They are having a hard time. They’re saying, this doesn’t fit into our little square boxes. Well yeah, but it’s Star Wars, and Star Wars doesn’t fit into that box.”
Lucas is also working on a different Star Wars TV project which will be an animated series named Star Wars The Clone Wars.
