Boston - Kanye West managed to sell more copies of his Graduation album than 50 Cent and his Curtis album forcing 50 Cent to live up to his claim and retire.
50 Cent stated that if Kanye West’s album topped his in the first week of sales that he would retire and never make another solo album again.
For the week ended Sunday, Graduation from Kanye West took the number one spot selling 957,000 copies while the 50 Cent album Curtis sold 691,000 copies. This means that West topped 50 Cent by over 250,000 copies!
Kanye West set a new single-week record for digital sales with over 132,000 downloads as well.
West stated that “I just want people to listen to the album all the way through and tell their friends. We’re trying to take this album to 10 million. You don’t understand those numbers are like N Sync numbers in their day.”
50 Cent stated that he was “excited to have participated in one of the biggest album release weeks in the last two years.”
