Los Angeles - Nicole Richie is a free woman after spending only 82 minutes in jail.
Richie had been sentenced to four days in jail for driving under the influence of drugs… but was sprung early.
The L.A. sheriff’s department, which has been criticized for its leniency on celebs, claimed Richie received no special treatment, and was released due to overcrowding.
The socialite was charged with a misdemeanor Dui on July 27 and was sentenced to 36 months of summary probation. If she violates probation, she will have to serve one year in jail.
Richie was arrested on Deceember 11 when she found driving her Mercedes Benz the wrong way down California State Route 134 highway in Burbank, California. After failing an on-field sobriety test, Richie admitted to having smoked marijuana and taking a vicodin painkiller.
