In an effort to find personnel for the next round of International Space Exploration, the Canadian Space Agency has announced plans to hire as many as six new Astronauts with a possible trip to the International Space Station possible for one or more of them.
The CSA is seeking to hire new personnel as part of their participation in the International Space Station program.
“We are looking for people who excel in their chosen field,” said CSA Chief Astronaut Steve MacLean.
This is the third time that the space agency has advertised publicly for Astronauts since 1983. Persons with medical or scientific backgrounds are encouraged to apply, there is no requirement for space experience required.
“We are aiming for the very best personnel possible,” said Mr. MacLean.
Maclean has flown on the space shuttle Columbia and Atlantis in 1992 and 2006, respectively, and is respected as a expert in space exploration travel for Canada.
When Canada last advertised for space adventurers Mr. MacLean was selected as one of six different Canadian’s for participation.
The newest Candidates for the Canadian Space Agency program will be chosen in the next 12 months and then will move forward to training with the CSA agency.
