Boston - Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has hinted that the company may keep the Windows XP operating system around, despite the push to get Windows Vista on as many machines as possible.
Ballmer stated that XP, at one point, will come to an end.
He stated though that Microsoft will listen to consumers. So basically, if the people want it, Microsoft is willing to keep Windows XP around longer.
At the end of June, Microsoft plans to stop selling computer models with Windows XP installed in them.
They will support XP through April 2009, with limited support through April 2014.
They do, however, plan to keep selling it on low-cost PCs.
Ballmer has hinted now though that the expiration date for XP may be extended once again.
