Facebook has hired a new chief operating officer, none other than former Google executive Sheryl Sandberg.
Sheryl Sandberg is the latest defection to move from Google to Facebook.
Sandberg was Google’s vice president of global online sales and operations for the past six years.
She helped build Google into one of the most powerful companies in the world.
Facebook’s hiring of Sandberg will be effective as of March 24th.
This will fill a huge void for Facebook, who reassigned its popular chief operating officer, Owen Van Natta, last summer to chief revenue officer.
Van Natta has since left Facebook.
38-year-old Sandberg will report directly to 23-year-old founder and chief executive, Mark Zuckerberg.
